MODES OF CONSUMPTION AND THE TYPES OF WASTE ARE CHANGING

When it comes to waste sorting centres, a revamp may entail anything from simply adding a machine to completely overhauling the facility.

These changes often stem from a change in the regulations or the technology employed, or a need to upgrade the sorting process.

WHICH SORTING CENTRES NEED REVAMPING?

All sorting centres will need to revamp their facilities.

Ever since waste sorting instructions were extended to include the whole of France on 1 January 2023, selective collection waste sorting centres have had to adapt and upgrade their performance in order to process new types of packaging.

Waste sorting centres handling municipal solid waste (MSW) and post-consumer waste (PCW) are increasingly being revamped to add extensions to the lines producing solid recovered fuel (SRF). This considerably reduces the amount of waste processing rejects simply buried in the ground.

In a broader perspective, and whatever the type of waste sorting facility, occasionally adding or replacing one or more items of equipment can significantly and rapidly boost the sorting facility’s performances or improve the recycling of a waste flow.

Work on upgrading a sorting centre may sometimes be combined with an effort to achieve compliance with requirements for fire safety or working conditions of quality operators in sorting cabins.
