AKTID WINS THE CONTRACT TO DESIGN AND CONSTRUCT THE NEW SELECTIVE COLLECTION SORTING CENTRE FOR THE DORGOGNE MIXED WASTE ASSOCIATION (SMD3)

Aktid has won the subcontract for the creation of the new sorting centre operated by Paprec, on behalf of the Dordogne Mixed Waste Association (SMD3). This facility will be located in Coulounieix-Chamiers, near Périgueux, replacing the existing facilities in Sarlat, 65 km away, and in La Rampinsolle.

The sorting centre will be equipped with a large-scale process including 115 belts, 4 ballistic separators and 14 optical sorters. The facility will be capable of treating and recovering 45,000 tonnes of household packaging, mainly collected in bags, representing two-thirds of the selective collection in Dordogne.

In terms of innovation, the centre will have the very latest quality control module incorporating artificial intelligence, in addition to two Smart Regulation mass and volume control systems, Smart Packing and ABI.

Designed with a view to reducing energy consumption, the sorting centre will exploit the waste heat from the various compressors, in particular those of the optical sorters, to heat the sorting cabin, thereby guaranteeing the comfort of the quality controllers.

Assembly of the process will begin in June 2025, with final acceptance scheduled for August 2026. From December 2025, Aktid’s dedicated team will begin the industrial commissioning phase with no-load tests, followed by load tests, before supporting and training the operating and maintenance staff in the use of their new work tool.

This sorting line, adapted to the extension of the citéo instructions, will simplify eco-friendly behaviours for almost 400,000 Périgord residents in 497 surrounding communes.
